Taxonomy!

This is a post about using tags effectively. Let’s say the post is about German cars. You’ll note that this text doesn’t say anything about specific brands, but we want Google and others to pick up on the fact that this is what we’re talking about, so let’s add some tags to that effect.

I’ll click on “Categories and Tags” on the right hand side and choose some tags.

I’ll also add a “Cars” category.

Categories tend to be pre-defined, and help segment your website content in useful ways, while tags are per-post and much more scatter-gun. Both help with SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) which gets you more attention on the likes of Google.
